Information is one of the biggest sellers online. Everyone is looking for information on something. Whether it is a recipe, how to get ketchup out of a white shirt or information on a product or service, there is always someone to give the info! So, if it is just information that they are providing, how do they make money? That is the question that has been asked for a long time, and I am now going to break it down for you. Information sites are usually set up to be a TON of pages. Each page on a website has the ability to be listed in the Search Engines. So, the more pages you have the larger amount of traffic you will get. Each page is created around a specific keyword that is being typed in the Search Engines. When setting up one of these sites, it is important to have products or services that match the content on each page. So let’s say that you were doing a site on Scrapbooking. Maybe you write an article on the keyword “Using different scissors for Scrapbooking”. You could then put a banner or link on that individual page going to an affiliate that sells scrapbooking scissors. If you have a page talking about how to use the right paper so that it doesn’t damage your pictures, you can have a link to a company selling the paper. Some individuals will use programs like google adsense that puts text links on the site based on the subject and will pay you per-click that clicks on them. In most circumstances I have been able to place banners or products that are specific to the article and have been able to outperform the adsense ads. I have also seen individuals create information pages and then have a newsletter or membership section that traffic can sign up for once they have read the article. This can be powerful as it get’s them into an email list for a newsletter and could get them on a residual for the membership. You can then use these two lists to market secondary products to them. INFO SITES ARE EVERYWHERE… AND YES, THEY STILL MAKE MONEY! |
